ABOUT GGI:

The Go Green Initiative (GGI) is dedicated to improving life-long outcomes for children living in our nation’s highest poverty and pollution areas. By actively addressing the environmental factors that impact their daily lives and well-being, we strive to create healthier and more sustainable communities. Our mission is to tackle these critical issues in partnership with schools and students through comprehensive programs and services that assess and enhance indoor environmental quality and surrounding environmental conditions.

At GGI, we believe that environmental justice is one of the most pressing social challenges of our time. Our work is driven by the conviction that every child deserves a safe and healthy environment in which to learn and grow. By prioritizing environmental improvements in and around schools, we aim to empower the next generation and foster a culture of sustainability and stewardship.

Project Summary

This groundbreaking project, GGI Clean Indoor Air & GHG Reduction Initiative, is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for five years to focus on increasing Indoor Air quality (IAQ) in schools, a critical factor in creating a healthy and productive learning environment through two programs: capacity building with a cohort of districts as well as training and education

GGI, in partnership with the National School Boards Association (NSBA), will support low-income and Tribal K-12 school districts in implementing sustainable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction plans. This project leverages the critical role of senior district leaders in allocating necessary staff time and funding by providing technical assistance, including policy and program advising, grant writing resources, community engagement, project management, strategy planning, data collection and analysis, training, and tailored implementation guidance to drive meaningful, long-lasting improvements in school district sustainability practices.
