The Vita Coco company is hiring for an ESG Program Analyst. The ESG Program Analyst at Vita Coco plays a pivotal role in managing the company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy and Culture & Belonging program. This position involves executing project tasks, tracking progress against impact goals, and spearheading initiatives to grow diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the organization. The ESG Program Analyst will be based at our NYC headquarters, and report directly to the ESG Program Manager.

Main Responsibilities

Data Aggregation, Management, & Analysis

  • Collect, organize, and manage complex data sets related to ESG, specifically for the Vita Coco Project, Seedlings for Sustainability, and Corporate GHG inventories.
  • Support the onboarding of a decarbonization platform; establish strong data governance systems to improve quality of data; track progress towards goals.
  • Standardize metrics for assessing social and environmental impact outcomes of project and track progress towards goals.
  • Analyze data to identify key areas of focus for reduction strategies across carbon, water, land, packaging, and more.

ESG Strategy Implementation

  • Manage day-to-day ESG program initiatives and cultivate relationships with NGOs and non-profits, domestically and internationally.
  • Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives with HR and oversee the organization’s Culture & Belonging committee, fostering a network of engaged employees.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations team to support the development of supply chain interventions and GHG reduction initiatives projects.
  • Work with marketing and content teams to develop communications and outreach materials; take lead on developing ESG social content.
  • Coordinate volunteering events, including managing product donations.
  • Maintain understanding of leading trends and changes in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and overall sustainability landscape.

Internal ESG Programming and Education

  • Develop communication assets, such as technical and general presentations and one-pagers, for internal and external stakeholders on ESG
  • Serve as a source of knowledge and inspiration for internal teams.

Governance & External Reporting

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop/improve and implement policies to improve our ESG governance.
  • Lead the gathering and organization of ESG data and documentation for annual reporting and disclosures by collaborating closely with stakeholders.
  • Support B Corp recertification efforts and contribute to the development and publishing of Vita Coco Company’s Impact Report in partnership with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Support Vita Coco’s Foundation – managing grants, policies, and partnership programming.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Policy, Corporate Responsibility, Social Impact, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus but not required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in ESG, program management, stakeholder reporting, or related role.
  • 1+ year of experience in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion practices.
  • Strong organizational abilities in project development, planning, and task facilitation.
  • Understanding of GHG accounting and sustainability reporting protocols.
  • Understanding of non-profit best practices, grantmaking, foundation governance, and policies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to meet people where they’re at and explain the “why” behind ESG initiatives.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or other data management/visualization platforms.
  • Detail-oriented with a prioritization of quality over quantity.
  • Ability to effectively manage diverse stakeholder groups and proactively build relationships.
  • Strong understanding of ESG topics within the food industry, supply chains, agricultural communities, and societal issues.
  • Experience in sustainable communications, including annual report copywriting, is a plus.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills.

At The Vita Coco Company, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include but are not limited to: skill set, experience, education, training, licensure and certifications, knowledge and abilities of the applicant, alignment with market data, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 This range may vary for positions that will be performed outside of California, Colorado, Nevada, New York City, Westchester County, NY, Rhode Island, or Washington.
