About Impact Ops
Impact Ops is an independent organization that provides operational support to high-impact nonprofits. Our services include entity setup, finance, recruitment, audit, due diligence, and systems implementation. We operate a fully ‘remote working’ model with team members based in Europe, the UK, and Canada and clients based in Europe and the US.

Key responsibilities
As a small team, we’re all involved in many different aspects of supporting our clients. As a Finance Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing financial data and ensuring transactions are recorded correctly
- Implementing automations for routine bookkeeping tasks
- Developing and improving internal controls
- Ensuring compliance with the regulatory and tax requirements in the relevant jurisdictions (namely the US)
- Producing and analyzing financial reports on a monthly basis
- Creating, tracking, and maintaining budgets
- Creating or improving financial dashboards
- Project managing audits
- Consulting with clients to improve their audit-readiness
About you
You’ll need to have:
- A licence as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US. Equivalent certifications may be suitable, ideally focused on US regulations.
- 3+ years’ experience in public accounting or internal accounting in a role with a wide variety of responsibilities. As a Finance Specialist we expect you to bring a depth of finance experience to the role and ideally appropriate financial qualifications.
You’ll also likely have:
- Experience in the nonprofit sector: US-specific charity finance experience is particularly desirable.
- Experience with audits: Either as an auditor, or as a client. Moderate experience with US tax matters is also desirable.
- An operations mindset: You’re good at identifying issues, prioritizing, generating solutions, and efficiently implementing new ideas.
- Strong attention to detail: You identify and correct small errors to ensure precision and accuracy in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- A love of systems: You enjoy building systems that run exceptionally smoothly, and have promising ideas for improving existing processes.
- Strong communication skills: You’re personable and able to communicate professionally and clearly with various stakeholders and clients, both in writing and verbally.
- Comfort owning projects: You’re comfortable managing tasks and you thrive in an autonomous work environment.
- An intrinsic motivation to have a positive impact with your career.

Your starting salary range is $60,000 to $75,000, depending on experience. There may be flexibility in salary for exceptional candidates with significant experience.
Our benefits include:

This is a full-time role, but part-time would also be possible for particularly strong candidates. We prefer candidates who can work in European or US East coast time zones, but we’re open to other arrangements for exceptional candidates.
