The Office of the Executive Director (OED) is seeking a talented and motivated Intern to support the full range of activities led by the Executive Director (ED) and the executive office. This includes the ED’s public and internal communications, research and briefings for strategic engagements, and support to cross-cutting initiatives and special projects.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and analytical thinker, with strong communications instincts, research skills, and an ability to manage fast-moving tasks with discretion and precision.


Internship Assignment

This internship offers an opportunity for post-graduate students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience at the highest levels of global climate finance. Under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Communications Advisor to the Executive Director, the Intern will perform the following tasks:


Responsibilities

Executive Communications and Messaging

• Draft, edit, and/or fact-check speeches, talking points, social media posts, op-eds, forewords, and internal messages for the Executive Director.
• Contribute to communication outputs that articulate institutional priorities and respond to major climate finance developments.
• Assist in developing strategic messaging aligned with the Fund’s mission, reform agenda, and global positioning.

Research and Briefing Support

• Conduct desk research and prepare concise, well-structured background notes and briefings on key topics of relevance to the Executive Director, including multilateral climate policy, financing trends, and institutional partnerships.
• Help synthesize external publications, internal documents and materials to support engagement strategies.
• Monitor developments in the broader climate finance ecosystem to inform the Executive Director’s speaking engagements and missions.
• Project Management and Logistical Support
• Help coordinate and track high-level initiatives and institutional priorities led or overseen by OED.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for official missions, events, and bilateral meetings.
• Support the preparation and quality control of briefing packages and engagement materials.

Other Duties

• Contribute to special projects and cross-cutting assignments as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s or PhD program in International Relations, Communications, Climate Policy, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

• Outstanding writing and editing skills with a clear, analytical, and professional style.
• Demonstrated research and synthesis skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into accessible briefings.
• Strong understanding of international development, multilateral institutions, or climate change policy is an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communications tools is desirable.

Languages

• Native or near-native English fluency is essential.
• Knowledge of another UN language, particularly French, Spanish, or Portuguese, is an advantage.
