Summary of the Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Programs, Policy and Innovation, the Senior Manager of Programs is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of teams that engage, educate, and provide tools to support behaviour-driven climate change impacts and connect workers to opportunities in the rapidly growing clean economy.

With projects that span from encouraging drivers to make the switch to electric vehicles, to connecting clean economy employers with the right talent from across the country, to supporting Atlantic Canadian youth and teachers in learning about climate change, the Senior Manager of Programs will need to be a quick learner, sound financial manager, highly organized, comfortable shifting between details and big picture issues, and capable of mentoring and motivating teams to deliver their best.

The Senior Manager of Programs is responsible for strategic engagement with key partners and program funders, guiding new project design and delivery across a range of subject areas, providing financial oversight of several teams, and supporting their professional growth and development. Senior Managers at Clean are expected to contribute to the strategic growth and development of the organization, work alongside Clean’s executive leadership team, and to support reporting to funders, partners, and Clean’s Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing direct oversight of several program teams in the areas of Workforce Development, Clean Transportation, and Education and Engagement.
  • Leading program teams to support the achievement of project and program outcomes and the development of cohesive and collaborative teams.
  • Supporting resilience for program teams and the overall organizational resilience by leading the strategic development of new project and program areas and cultivating new funding opportunities.
  • Developing budgets and strategic program plans.
  • Facilitating organizational partnerships across teams at Clean, among other non-profit and service delivery organizations, provincial, federal, municipal governments and community-based partners.
  • Maintaining effective communication within and across program teams, the executive leadership team, external partners, funders, and the media.
  • Adhering to reporting requirements, including the development of reporting templates and processes that reflect the varied needs of Clean and its contractual obligations to funders and partners.
  • Driving continual improvement of programs and processes by supporting regular program health evaluations, strategic risk-taking and encouraging collaboration across programs and teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with Clean’s occupational health and safety program.
  • Performing other duties/projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant field; specialized industry certification, or an acceptable combination of relevant training and experience.
  • At least three years’ experience managing complex projects, diverse teams, and related organizational functions.
  • Advanced organizational, teamwork, project management, analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving and financial skills.
  • Strong portfolio management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Readily adapts to new ideas and initiatives, changes in processes, procedures, methods, etc.
  • Commitment to uphold and advocate for Clean’s values and standards.
  • Communicates complex issues clearly and credibly with widely varied audiences.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite of programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and       Outlook.
  • Possession of a valid Canadian driver’s license.

Additional Assets:

  • Valid PMP certification is an asset.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle an asset.
  • Experience managing projects in non-profit environment is an asset.
  • Experience working in the environmental sector is an asset.

Working Conditions

This role will be a combination of remote and in-office hours which will require work on a computer for extended periods of time. A standing desk and ergonomic relief will be provided as needed. Some additional over time hours, or time outside of the normal work hours (8:30 - 4:30), may be required to meet operational requirements of planning and delivering specific projects at specific times of the year. Travel may be required. 

Salary & Benefits

$75,000.00 - $97,500.00 per year
