About
I’m an experienced development writer and communications leader who has been crafting and refining purposeful, compelling prose for more than a decade.
After 8 years as a writer and then manager of UBC's Proposal Development team, I launched my business as a writing and editing consultant and practitioner. Over the past five years, I have helped nonprofits craft materials that raise funds, inspire audiences, and clearly and persuasively communicate their mission. Over the years, I’ve become an expert interviewer committed to ethical storytelling principles.
This work included three years supporting Legado, an international development and conservation organization. Leading communications for this diverse and distributed team, I had the privilege of creating compelling content featuring holistic, sustainable conservation work that centered local and Indigenous voices. From project management to content creation, I have lead the development of pitch decks, the annual report, newsletters, blog posts, event invitations, and other marketing collateral. This role also included leading strategic communications planning and delivery across multiple channels.
My current clients and former colleagues will tell you that I meet deadlines, value collaboration, lead with kindness, and produce exceptional work. I am comfortable working in technical environments, navigating varying levels of feedback, and upholding an organization’s voice, style, and ethos.
Last year, I completed an MA in Interdisciplinary Humanities, in an effort to better ground myself and my work in human-scaled thinking and creativity. This complements my Certificate in Editing and BA in Communications.
