Job Description/Responsibilities

The job of the Accounting Clerk is to maintain the financial health and resiliency of the organization through bookkeeping, generating financial statements, and communicating regularly about budget and cash flow concerns.

In this role, the Accounting Clerk will:

• Process accounts payable and ensure bills are paid on time

• Process all receivables including cash, check and ACH income, and transfer funds as appropriate among Good Fund bank accounts

• Maintain the integrity of QuickBooks records

• General office duties

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Be highly detail-oriented

• Be an expert with Microsoft Excel, and familiar with QuickBooks Desktop

• Have earned a degree in Accounting, Business or Finance or have equivalent experience

• Have knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit organizations

• Be inquisitive, have a desire to learn new tools and methods, and believe in continuous process improvement.

• Have a strong work ethic

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Experience reconciling bank accounts, credit card accounts, and both general and subsidiary ledger accounts.

• Experience with period-end closing processes, including serving as the primary point of contact for an annual audit of financial statements

• Experience with processing payroll and payroll taxes

• Experience with loan tracking: accounting for bad debt, interest accrual, and reconciling payment summaries

• Experience with financial management in a high-growth nonprofit organization

• Knowledge of Salesforce is preferred but not required

Training and Compensation

The Accounting Clerk will receive extensive training on all of Capital Good Fund’s products, services, policies, procedures, and technology.

The Accounting Clerk will make a salary of $43,680-$47,840 commensurate experience.

In addition, the Accounting Clerk will receive a competitive benefits package that 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar employer match up to 4% of employees gross earnings, medical insurance with a $500/month employer subsidy, dental insurance fully covered by employer for routine dental care, 5 paid personal days per benefit year, 15 vacation days in the first year on staff, and the opportunity to apply for personal loans of up to $2,000 at 0% interest.
