The Community Sponsorship Hub (CSH) is a dynamic organization dedicated to growing the role of communities in the protection, resettlement, and integration of refugees and other forcibly displaced people. Mobilizing civil society, and the public, private, and philanthropic sectors, and empowering them with resources and access, we shape and coordinate a community sponsorship system that leverages the power of welcoming Americans.

About Private Sponsorship for Refugees

The Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) recently launched Welcome Corps, a Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program as part of the Administration’s efforts to expand community sponsorship in refugee resettlement.  Community Sponsorship Hub and its consortium develop and implement the infrastructure to welcome and support thousands of refugees by equipping lawful permanent residents and citizens to welcome newcomers and experience the benefits of resettlement firsthand. The program allows Americans to consistently engage in sponsorship and meaningfully enhance integration outcomes for refugees. The PSR pilot program builds on previous successes in community sponsorship programs to expand resettlement capacity in the United States and diversify welcoming communities, bringing new perspectives, and increasing opportunities to take part in resettlement.  

Position Overview

As a Welcome Corps Community Liaison, you will be responsible for educating various communities about the Welcome Corps Program. You will develop and implement strategies to support and engage with potential sponsors.  

Key Responsibilities

Educational Outreach

  • Develop and implement strategies to educate targeted communities about the Welcome Corps program.
  • Coordinate workshops, presentations, and informational sessions to raise awareness and understanding of the program's objectives and benefits.  

Engagement and Recruitment

  • Organize and conduct weekly in-person and virtual briefings for potential sponsors.
  • Identify and conduct outreach to new communities of potential sponsors or interested organizations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and provide support to potential sponsors as needed
  • Assist with identifying potential areas of engagement for Community Sponsorship Hub or U.S. government staff, including high-level Department of State officials, and help coordinate in-person events and outreach  

Communication Material Development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create communication materials tailored to the needs and preferences of targeted communities.
  • Ensure that materials effectively convey key messages about the program and resonate with the intended audience.

Success Stories Identification

  • Identify and showcase successful sponsorship stories to inspire and motivate potential sponsors.
  • Collect testimonials and case studies highlighting the positive impact of sponsorship on both sponsors and newcomers.

Tracking and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of all engagement activities, including contacts made, inquiries received, and applications submitted.
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports to the national team, summarizing progress, challenges, and outcomes.

Evaluation and Plan Modification

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of mobilization and recruitment efforts regularly, using feedback and performance metrics.
  • Modify recruitment strategies and action plans as needed to optimize outcomes and address emerging needs or challenges.

Community Engagement

  • Develop personalized engagement plans for each targeted community, taking into account their unique communication styles and preferences.
  • Track interactions with community members and adjust engagement strategies to ensure maximum participation and buy-in.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, outreach, or mobilization activities.
  • Previous experience in community organizing or volunteer recruitment, particularly in engaging and motivating individuals or groups to take action.
  • Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information to various stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, sponsors, and organizational partners.
  • Proficiency in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and events, both in-person and virtually.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with data tracking and reporting systems to monitor progress and outcomes.
  • Understanding of community development principles and practices, particularly in the context of refugee resettlement or immigration.
  • Knowledge of sponsorship programs, refugee resettlement policies, and immigration processes would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Awareness of cultural sensitivity and the ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate community engagement activities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation, as travel within the community may be required.


Salary

$45 per hour

Location

Remote in the U.S.

Duration: Three months with possible extension (20 to 30 hours per week).
