The Consulate General of Ireland in Boston is looking for a proactive, dynamic, and flexible person withexcellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills to fill a full-time Community Engagement andAdministrative Officer position.

Position: Community Engagement and Administrative Officer (Full time40 hours a week)

Salary: Base Point - $70,940 gross per annum. Payscale withincrements rising to $81,581, based on satisfactoryperformance

Paid Public Holidays: 11 days paid per annum

Job Description Tasks and Duties:

The precise range of duties will vary over time according to the needs of the Consulate, but will includethe following:

• Assisting Diplomatic Staff with running of the Emigrant Support Programme & engaging withIrish and Irish American Community Organisations to strengthen relationships;
• Coordinating the running of official events, which can range from meetings, to receptions,cultural/community engagement programming or high-level visits;
• Responsibility for day-to-day administrative tasks including accounts & financial systemadministration;
• Front of office duties including dealing with visitors to the Consulate, phone and emailenquiries, including consular services, assisting Irish citizens, answering queries from thepublic;
• Providing general administrative support to Diplomatic Staff as needed;
• In addition to the above, Community Engagement and Administrative Officer may be requiredto carry out other functions subject to the business needs of the Mission;


Key requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:

• Candidates must have a degree in a relevant field;
• Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience (experience workingwith grant management systems would be desirable);
• The candidate must demonstrate using work based examples of providing excellentinterpersonal skills, being persuasive, working in a team but also dealing effectively with peoplein external organisations;
• The candidate must provide evidence of flexibility, efficiency and effectiveness, showing strongorganizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, to demonstrateinitiative, and to manage multiple tasks executed to completion;
• The candidate should provide examples of being solutions-oriented, committed to deliveringresults, and providing excellent customer service via email, phone, and in-person;
• The candidate should have advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability toquickly distil and synthesise complex information in writing, and to present it clearly andconcisely orally;
• The candidate should provide examples of being solutions-oriented, and committed todelivering results, including by adapting approach if necessary;
• All applicants must have a permanent legal right to reside and work in the United States ofAmerica prior to hiring.


Terms and conditions of employment:

• Salaries are paid direct to a bank account: therefore, the successful candidate must have a bankaccount;
• The successful candidates will be hired on a 2 year fixed-term contractual basis and will be basedat the Consulate General of Ireland, Boston;
• Contracts are governed by US labour laws in accordance with US, State and Local EmploymentLaw;
• Please note that, where applicable, the Mission does not withhold taxes at source, therefore thesuccessful candidate is responsible for all taxes including social security contributions.
• On request, successful candidates must be in a position to provide evidence of their compliancewith applicable tax and social insurance obligations.
• The successful candidates will be responsible for making their own arrangements regarding localtransport, and accommodation
• Hours of attendance will be as fixed from time to time, but will amount to not less than 40 hoursper week. Where extra attendance is necessary, time off in lieu will be allowed.
• The positions will have an annual leave allowance of 20 days per annum, adjusted wherenecessary pro rata.

Selection Process:
