About the Job
Heron is seeking a Director of Community Partnerships to support the execution of its work to advance prosperous, vibrant communities. The Director of Community Partnerships will support implementation as the organization delivers on its ambitious aspirations for growing collective agency and building stronger, more resilient communities that have been long underserved by institutions and current systems.
The Director of Community Partnerships will play a key role in developing and implementing Heron’s core program, which focuses on identifying and engaging a cohort of “Community Capitals Partners” (CCPs) to form a collaborative national network. CCPs are well-established community-based organizations that have built local trust and work to advance the vitality and well-being of their community. This network will work to enhance capacity and promote prosperity in communities across the country. The Director will collaborate closely with the Senior Director to identify and onboard CCPs and will then support these partners in building community capacity and fostering collective agency. The ideal candidate will be a team player with experience in community engagement and development, particularly in rural and underserved regions. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to community transformation in disadvantaged areas are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the design and creation of a generative and collaborative Community Capitals Partner (CCP) Network across the country.
Support the creation and delivery of a robust suite of services for CCPs to foster strong, healthy, and resilient communities.
Assist CCPs in building collective community agency.

Position Salary and Benefits
Salary range $131,000-$155,000 based on skills and experience. Heron offers an attractive benefits package. While the position is remote, the Director of Community Partnerships will be required to travel to our partners’ communities as well as to Heron’s future offices located in the NY/NJ area and Birmingham, AL on a fairly regular basis. This position is expected to travel up to 30% of the time. Preference will be given to candidates local to Birmingham, AL.
