Job Description

Job Summary: Our development team transforms lives impacted by vision loss through the power of philanthropy. We make Braille Institute’s free life-changing services accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world.

The Grants Manager is a liaison between the Braille Institute and its institutional funders. This person serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder relationships, and produces reports. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, relationship-building, program budgeting, and project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Director of Development-Institutional Giving, research, prepare, and submit institutional (corporate and foundation) letter of intent, proposals for funding, and donor reports.
  • Track institutional giving against personal grant goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with 40 or more funders.
  • Follow all requirements and deadlines for grant applications.
  • Maintain internal grants calendar and ongoing updates in Salesforce (Non-Profit Success Package) database.
  • Stay current on established organization and departmental goals, strategies, and budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. As the organization continues to evolve, duties or tasks may change without impacting the overall Job Description.

Knowledge and Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A four-year college degree is desirable. Strong knowledge of standard office computer software required. Salesforce experience is required.


Experience:
Position requires at least two years of comparable nonprofit writing and grant management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be a strong writer and self-starter.
  • Ability to focus on several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of word, excel, and power point.
  • At least two years of comparable writing or related grants experience.
  • Grant writing certificate (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to travel on occasion to funder meetings, conferences, events, and other Braille Institute of America offices.
  • Bilingual/Spanish is a plus.

Experience level:

  • Two years of professional nonprofit writing and/or grants management.
  • Grant management: 2 years (Required).
  • Grant writing: 2 years (Required).
  • Salesforce: 1 year (Required).
  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Required).


Work Environment:
Position works in a standard office environment, hybrid work schedule.


Physical Requirements:
Position operates with standard office equipment. The ability to travel to regional offices, fundraising events and conferences may be required.


Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year.

Job Type

Schedule:

  • M-F, 9 AM – 5 PM, occasional evenings or weekends to attend programs and events.
  • This role requires traveling to Riverside County, Orange County, and the Coachella Valley 25% of the time each month.
