Background

Global Fund for a New Economy (GFNE) was founded in 2024 and partners with leaders and organisations around the world to build an economic system that centres people, protects the planet, and strengthens democracy. We provide catalytic funding, strategic partnerships, and operational infrastructure to help shape this transition.

We are a remote-first, globally distributed team with programmatic priorities in Brazil, India, the United States, South Africa, Kenya, Germany, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Mexico, and Indonesia. This role requires strong comfort with asynchronous collaboration, flexible scheduling, and self-directed work. You’ll join a high-performing, mission-driven team that values collaboration, learning, and clarity.

Purpose of role

We support organisations working to advance a new economy around the world through communications, campaigns and other tactics. This detail-oriented role is responsible for managing our day-to-day network and operational support systems for these groups. We are looking for someone with excellent relationship management skills to support the daily coordination of GFNE’s global network. Our “network” refers to a growing community of partner organisations, consultants, and affiliated groups working across economic justice, democracy, and climate in different regions. This role ensures smooth internal operations (e.g. ensuring our fortnightly meeting with each group is running effectively) and external collaboration by managing coordination, logistics, workflows, documentation, and follow-up including our annual all network retreats. You’ll be the anchor for keeping our global connections running smoothly, making sure the right people, systems, and processes are in sync. This role will devote about 70% of its time to the Communications team and about 30% to the Advocacy team.

In addition to supporting network operations, this person will build and foster strong relationships between GFNE and our partners as well as between our partners across the world. The role will be a success if our networks are providing the best support possible for our partners and where we are most effectively able to track the evolving needs and status of those partners.

You might be a fit if…

  • You’ve helped launch or support new teams, organisations, or projects by setting up operational systems from scratch.
  • You are comfortable adapting your coordination style to groups at different stages of growth or setup.
  • You are skilled at building group cohesion across a range of cultures, languages, disciplines, and time zones.
  • You translate strategic goals into clear deliverables and keep track of multiple moving parts across workstreams.
  • You maintain clean, reliable systems, trackers, or documentation that others depend on.
  • You lead scheduling, logistics, or contracting across time zones and cultures with consistency and care.
  • You are proactive, organized, and follow through to close loops and surface gaps early.
  • You bring clarity and calm under pressure, keeping group dynamics constructive.
  • You build trust quickly and relate well to a range of personalities with warmth, professionalism, and steadiness.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for network partners and communications hubs.
  • Respond to real-time queries and triage requests to the right internal team members ensuring that tasks are complete.

  • Manage grant-related documentation and track disbursements.
  • Coordinate review and signature processes with internal and external parties.
