Position Overview
TechEquity is seeking an experienced communicator to join our team in the newly created role of Vice President of Communications. Reporting to the COO, this senior leadership role requires an individual with 10-15 years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or public affairs.
The Vice President of Communications will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communications strategies to support engagement and outreach with our key audiences: funders, media, policy decision makers, and our community (partners, workers, and renters).
Overseeing our Sr. Manager of Social Media and Communications, this skilled communicator drives innovative engagement strategies via campaigns that amplify and effectively communicate the organization’s mission to various stakeholders. This should be achieved through a diverse mix of marketing, advertising, media, and strategic engagement campaigns using the full range of traditional and digital tools available. The Vice President will also collaborate closely with executive leadership, program leads, and cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the intersection between technology, public policy, and economic justice, and will have experience in developing and advancing a strategic vision to achieve organizational goals.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is in line with our organizational pay scale: $130,664-$147,705. This represents the present low and high ends of the organization’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. The salary range is set based on comparable salaries in our headquarters region in California. For employees outside of the state of California, the rate of reduction from the HQ band will be determined by the Regional Price parity for their home state (see Chart 1). Employees who live in a state that is equal to or greater than 100% of the US average will get 100% of the HQ salary bands. Employees who live in a state where cost of living is lower will get their salary discounted at the associated rate (not to exceed a discount of 10%). Subsequent annual COLA adjustments will be made based on CPI in staffers’ MSA, not to exceed 5%.
This is a fully remote*, competitive salaried position with medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.

Location is remote with quarterly meetings in Northern California.
