Thames Hospice is seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant, to bring their skills, values driven behaviours, and commitment to ambition, to deliver “quality of life, to the end of life, for everyone.” As one team we raise money, support each other whether in clinical teams, or corporate services to ensure everything runs efficiently and smoothly and delivers the best outcome for our patients and their families. Being part of a great team in a complex organisation is demanding, but also really rewarding. If you would like to be part of our Finance team, then we’d love to work with you.

As the Senior Accounts Assistant, you will help ensure the smooth and accurate processing of financial transactions across both the charity and its wholly owned subsidiary. Your responsibilities will include processing and maintaining the bank, sales, and purchase ledgers, and preparing month end journals and reconciliations as well as providing day-to-day support. You will contribute to the delivery of timely and reliable financial information, enabling the hospice to make informed decisions and maintain financial integrity.

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented individual with experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or similar role. A sound understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes is essential. You will have a proven ability to process financial transactions accurately, maintain reliable records, and use accounting software and excel. We are a small but friendly finance team and so you will be a team player with strong communication skills. You will need to be comfortable solving financial queries and managing your workload both independently and as part of a team.

We offer a wide range of employee benefits, including generous annual leave, free parking, travel expenses, access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), access to the NHS Pension Scheme (if eligible) and the Blue Light Discount Card scheme.

Appointment to this role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for work with adults and children.

Should you have any questions prior to applying, please contact Heather Bailey, Head of Financial Accounting, Systems and Control via email on h.bailey@thameshospice.org.uk.
