Position Summary
We are seeking a creative and dynamic Communications Specialist consultant to supportour team. The ideal candidate will support the Communications Lead in managing socialmedia, website content, newsletters, Digital Asset Management ( DAM) tools andcoordination with freelance writers, graphic designers, web developers and video productionagencies. Monitor trends and audience engagement and provide detailed analyses of web,social media, and email marketing activities to gauge the effectiveness of the organization’sdigital strategies.
About Agroecology Fund
The Agroecology Fund (AEF) is a multi-donor fund supporting agroecology movementsworldwide. The Fund aims to support resilient food systems, promote the economic andnutritional well-being and human rights of small farmers and Indigenous Peoples and theircommunities, strengthen biodiversity conservation and mitigate climate change throughlow-input agriculture featuring sustainable soil and water use. It supports and facilitateslearning exchange among organizations and movements that advance agroecologicalsolutions locally, regionally and globally. With the guidance of international advisors deeplyembedded in agroecology movements, the Fund supports some of the most effectivegrassroots organizations, advocates and researchers in the field of agroecology. Since 2012,AEF has awarded over $41 million to partner collaboratives that involve more than 90countries. Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management
● Design and implement social media strategy to guide AEF’s social mediaengagement
● Oversee AEF’s digital channels and communicate the impact of AEF’s grantees tothe donor community.
● Lead the management and production of content across existing digital platforms,including LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. The candidate will alsosupport the establishment of new social media channels to expand AEF’s reach.
● Grow AEF’s organic audience by developing strategic content and leveragingplatform-specific best practices.
● Gather impact stories, and transform them into compelling social media assets, andpromote them across all AEF channels.
● Develop and maintain a social media calendar; curate and schedule posts fromgrantees; support cross-promotion, including events, relevant international days, anddevelop social media toolkits.
● Explore new digital trends and formats, bringing innovative approaches to the digitalchannels to increase reach and engagement.
● Manage social media campaigns, analyze performance metrics, and generatemonthly reports to inform strategy adjustments.
Website Management
● Manage the AEF website to ensure content is accurate, updated, and aligned withthe organization’s brand and mission.
● Lead website revamp projects; create and edit content; improve overalldiscoverability; and analyze website traffic, generate reports to guide improvements.
● Coordinate with web developers to enhance website functionality, user experience,and accessibility.
● Lead A/B tests, UX research, and site enhancements to drive engagement andgrowth.
● Monitor website health, performance, uptime, and technical SEO.
● Conduct regular audits for broken links, outdated content, improvements, andsecurity issues.
● Establish key performance indicators and produce web analytics reports.
Newsletter Support
● Provide support in content collation and editing.
● Assist in formatting the layout and distributing monthly newsletters.
● Provide analytics using Mailchimp to track audience engagement, assess campaignperformance, and inform content and outreach strategies.
● Assist with donor emailers announcements, event-related mailers, and othernecessary email communications.
Support for Writing, Editing, and Translation
● Provide periodic writing and copy-editing support for AEF publications and blogs,including content developed by grantees or for events.
● Coordinate with translators to ensure timely and high-quality translation of materialsinto Spanish and French.
● Collaborate with freelance writers on blog development and related content needs.Manage the coordination of the pool of writers.
● Provide support in managing the editorial calendar, to publish impactful storieshighlighting grantees work and topical articles tied to international days and relevantglobal discussions on agroecology.
Digital Asset Management (DAM)
● Manage AEF’s digital asset library using tools like Canto, including uploading,tagging, categorizing, and organizing photos, videos, and other media assets toensure easy retrieval and proper archival.
Additional Tasks
● Provide support to coordinate with graphic designers to produce publications,infographics, banners, event materials, and communication collateral.
● Develop Terms of Reference (ToRs) for, video production and engaging creativeagencies.
● Support the communications lead with other delegated tasks as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
● Degree in Communications, journalism or a related field.
● 5-7 years of relevant experience in communications, with a focus on social mediaand website management.
● Proven experience in managing websites, and developing and executing socialmedia campaigns and generating insightful reports.
● Proficiency in crafting creative, inspiring, stories that communicate food systemstransformation and agroecology grassroots movements.
● Proficiency with tools such as Hootsuite, Mailer campaigns, Digital AssetManagement tools, Canva, Google Analytics.
● Strong writing and editing skills.
Desired Qualifications:
● Familiarity with climate change, food systems transformation, agroecologymovements and current issues in agroecology.
● Professional experience in the Global South● Previous experience working in US or European philanthropy.
● Familiarity with producing multimedia products e.g., video and virtual events e.g.,webinars.
● Multilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish, English, and French, is highly valued.
● Knowledge of video editing is a plus, with familiarity in software such as AdobePremiere Pro, Final Cut Pro.
Terms of Contract:
● Time: Full-time consultancy (1year) renewal depending on availability of funds.
● Status: Consultant.
● Compensation: Salary range is $4000-$5000, commensurate with qualifications andexperience.
● Approximate start date: February 2026
● Location: Remote (anywhere), but should be able to work on Eastern Standard Timewith reliable internet access.
