Job Summary 

Reporting to the Director of Collective Intelligence and Advocacy, the Head of Collective Intelligence and Action will serve as a strategic driver of knowledge and action within WINGS and the broader field. The role will lead the development of participatory processes to surface global insights, translate complexity into actionable strategies, and mobilize our network around shared transformation agendas.

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will align research, insights, partnership building, and convenings/facilitation to drive forward systemic change in philanthropy. The Head of Collective Intelligence and Action will collaborate with the WINGS team and members on different projects. Main areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Insight Generation and Foresight 

● Lead the design of collective intelligence systems, horizon scanning, and sensemaking processes to surface global trends, data, and emerging practices in philanthropy, especially from underrepresented regions. 

● Steward partnerships for research, participatory studies, and collaborative learning agendas, ensuring that outputs are relevant, accessible, and drive action. 

● Translate in-house and external research into actionable insights and products for our members, partners, and broader field.

Influencing the Field and Movement Building 

● Design and lead learning communities, peer exchange formats, and events that strengthen relationships and shared purpose across geographies, themes, and types of philanthropic actors. 

● Take a lead role in shaping and delivering key field-building initiatives, including the Philanthropy Transformation Initiative (PTI) and the flagship WINGSForum, ensuring these efforts build momentum around a shared field agenda and catalyze distributed leadership and collective action. 

● Identify, activate and support champions of philanthropy transformation within the network to drive change at the local, regional and global levels. 

● Strengthen the lifecycle of partnerships and initiatives, ensuring continuity, learning, and impact. 

● Collaborate with the communications team to elevate stories and narratives that advance philanthropy transformation and shift mindsets within and beyond the sector.

Organizational Collaboration and Team Leadership 

● Lead and co-supervise the Senior Associate, Influencing the Field, and a team of consultants as needed. 

● Collaborate closely with the internal team - Network and Ecosystems, Communications, HR - and external partners, members, and funders. 

● Support fundraising activities for the portfolio. 

● Ensure insights from the field inform WINGS’ strategic direction, programming, and communications. 

Requirements 

This is a full-time consultant position. The candidate can be based anywhere, as long as they are willing to overlap with the working hours of the United Kingdom and Brazil. 

A successful candidate will have the following: 

● A minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience working in research, networks, or systems change, preferably with global non-profit organizations or international foundations. 

● Strong understanding of the philanthropy field, its critical debates, and trends. 

● Experience in knowledge production, management, and research, with strong writing skills.

● Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights. 

● Skilled in designing and facilitating learning processes and participatory knowledge initiatives. 

● Demonstrated experience in mobilizing diverse stakeholders around shared goals or agendas. 

● Strong leadership skills with proven ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders 

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent WINGS externally and build partnerships. 

● Fluency in English. Competency in an additional language is an asset. 

● Open, entrepreneurial, and learning-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. 

● Comfortable working in a global setting and willing to travel internationally.

Compensation for this position ranges from USD 52,000-75,000 per year and will be based on several factors, including the applicant's geographic location.
