About us

Climate Policy Radar is a non-profit organisation building open databases and research tools so people can discover and understand complex information, in particular long-text documents, on climate, nature and development. Our data and tools help governments, researchers, international organisations, civil society, and the private sector to understand and advance effective climate policies and deploy climate finance. Harnessing data science and AI, and pioneering the application of natural language processing to this domain, our work renders previously unstructured, siloed data more readable and accessible.

We’re a Community Interest Company, championing an open science approach that aims to promote collaboration, transparency and justice - including open code and data. Currently around 30 people, our team is characterised by its high level of expertise, shared mission-driven ethos, and a strong collaborative spirit that welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

We are seeking an Operations Manager who will be instrumental in this journey, supporting high-scale, high-impact teams building tools to help move the needle on climate change.

You will be a practical problem-solver who enjoys building structure, improving systems, and enabling others to do their best work. Day to day activities will include:

Systems, Processes & Knowledge Management

  • Develop, document, and improve business processes across the organisation
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of tools and systems (e.g., communication platforms, collaboration tools, admin and finance systems)
  • Manage operational projects to support the COO, such as improving internal knowledge hubs or piloting new team tools
  • Support compliance, risk management, and policy updates where needed

Office & Workplace Management

  • Oversee our London office space, ensuring it is welcoming, functional, and well-equipped
  • Lead office moves or reconfiguration projects as needed
  • Manage supplier relationships

People & Culture Operations

  • Work with the Head of People to run onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive and supportive employee experience
  • Maintain and continually improve our hybrid working culture, with a focus on connection, communication, and belonging
  • Coordinate company events, offsites, and social activities

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently
  • Calm and adaptable, comfortable with change and ambiguity
  • A strong prioritiser who can balance multiple tasks and deadlines
  • A clear and proactive communicator who builds trust and strong working relationships
  • A strong desire for contributing to the global climate response.

Strong alignment with our values

Experience

  • At least 5 years of operations experience, ideally in a startup, non-profit, or similarly fast-moving environment
  • Demonstrated success in improving processes, coordinating people operations, and managing operational systems
  • Experience managing hybrid teams or supporting remote working cultures is a plus

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary ranging from £48-53k, depending on experience
  • A deep commitment to employee wellbeing, including policies such as 4 day workweek (same pay, Fridays off), generous leave, and a wellbeing allowance
  • A vibrant, collaborative, empathetic work culture that thrives on innovation and the impact of our work
