Position Overview

Liberty Hill Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join their youth justice team as a Senior Program Manager. Over the past decade, Liberty Hill has partnered with community-based organizations, private foundations, and government agencies to achieve several key goals: reducing youth arrest and incarceration rates, closing youth prisons, and investing in holistic youth development. The Senior Program Manager will work closely with the Senior Director, Youth and Transformative Justice, Program Director, Ready to Rise, Program Manager, and Program Coordinator to ensure alignment across the Youth Justice portfolio. The Youth Justice portfolio currently consists of three main programs: Ready to Rise, Liberation Fund, and the Youth Incubation Academy.

Ready to Rise is a dynamic, multi-year public private partnership aimed at building an alternative ecosystem focused on youth development, moving public funds toward this new vision and away from carceral and punishment approaches. The Liberation Fund serves as a collaborative funding model to eliminate the incarceration of girls and gender expansive youth in Los Angeles County and address the root causes of gender-based violence. The Youth Incubation Academy provides grants and capacity building support services to youth development organizations in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Youth Development.

Youth Justice Portfolio Coordination & Support

• Contribute to and support long-term strategizing related to the development of the youth justice vision, landscape, public partnerships, and grantmaking priorities with the Senior Director, Youth Justice, Program Director, Ready to Rise, and Program Manager.
• Develop a broad understanding of the Youth Justice team’s programs, projects, and budgets.
• Coordinate youth justice policy advocacy priorities at the City, County, and State levels.
• Facilitate Youth Justice team meetings and contribute to organizational-wide meetings to inform and align the Youth Justice portfolio.

Program Planning, Management, & Coordination

• Ensure alignment across the Youth Justice portfolio and support implementation of Liberation Fund and Ready to Rise.
• Manage the Youth Justice program workshop series in coordination with contractors, program team members, and grantee participants.
• Manage communication between contractors, funders, and program team members and ensure synergy with programmatic work, goals, and objectives.
• Monitor Youth Justice grant budgets, invoices, and deliverables in collaboration with the Senior Director, Youth Justice and the Finance team.
• Manage, cultivate, and be responsive to funders and partners who are involved with Youth Justice programs.

Administration & Support

• Hold regular trainings and convenings with Youth Justice organizations that will help advance their short and long-term strategic goals and strengthen relationships and capacity across this network.
• Develop presentations, curricula, and other materials related to project and program activity.
• Actively identify and share grantee feedback and reflections with data management process leads and ensure aligned implementation.
• Work with the LHF Grantmaking Team to manage and process grants using LHF administrative grantmaking systems  
• Monitor requested grants to ensure timely completion of deliverables and reporting.

Requirements

What you will have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for combination personal lived/professional experience.
• 5+ years’ progressively responsible experience in the nonprofit field.
• Deep knowledge of the youth and transformative justice movement across Los Angeles County.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex information and present to key stakeholders, including foundations, government partners and individuals.
• Experience leading organizing, policy advocacy or outreach programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Dedication to Liberty Hill’s mission and vision.
• Ability to speak multiple languages a plus.
• Proficiency in Office365 and project management apps (Slack, Asana, etc.).
• Commitment to social and racial justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Physical demands:

• Ability to operate a remote workstation and laptop/screen for extended periods.
• Ability to travel for in-person co-working, meetings, events and live in Los Angeles County.

Salary & Benefits

$81,200 - $101,500
