Remote: Must be physically based in the United States

Salary Range: $55,000-65,000 per year plus benefits


Overview

Wildlands Network seeks an experienced Storytelling and Content Manager to join our dynamic team and help amplify our mission to reconnect, restore, and rewild North America. As an integral part of our organization, you will report to the Communications Director and work alongside our conservation scientists, policy experts, and field teams to create engaging and goal-oriented content that advances habitat connectivity and biodiversity conservation across the continent.

Since 1991, Wildlands Network has been at the forefront of continental-scale conservation, working to rewild North America to ensure wildlife can safely move through and thrive on ourlandscapes. Your work will support our efforts to pass innovative wildlife-supporting legislation, build coalitions, protect critical habitat linkages, and inspire diverse audiences to champion connected wildlands through Mexico, the U.S., and Canada.


Every day you'll be:

• Producing copy that engages, informs, and inspires current and prospective supporters, partners, and stakeholders to advance our conservation initiatives and Wildway vision.
• Editing, copywriting, and optimizing conservation-focused web pages to improve user experience, attract supporters and partners, and convert visitors into advocates and donors.
• Repurposing, optimizing, and marketing conservation content for multiple channels and audience segments, from policymakers to supporters.
• Developing and implementing marketing automations that support effective audience growth, donor cultivation, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder engagement.
• Reviewing and coordinating conservation-related social, blog, and other content produced by staff, field scientists, coalition partners, and contractors.
• Monitoring and reporting analytics to contribute to an iterative, goal-driven content strategy that advances organizational priorities.
• Coordinating with external partners to elevate our point of view and connect with new audiences.
• Working with creative partners to design, produce, and package multimedia stories for digital and print.

Job Duties

Content Production and Coordination

• Support the successful execution of the editorial calendar and communications plan
• Develop and write blog posts and other marketing content (impact reports, policy briefs, conservation guides, FAQs) in alignment with organizational strategy and conservation goals
• Review and edit blog post drafts from staff, scientists, and contract writers; ensure alignment with mission and voice
• Create, review and edit social media content across platforms
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive social media content strategy
• Review and edit detailed project reports, impact summaries, and scientific communications (design and writing)
• Review and optimize conservation-related web pages at every stage of the supporter journey in alignment with SEO and engagement goals
• Coordinate the development of content by staff, scientists, field teams, and contractors
• Develop and implement new landing pages (in WordPress) to support campaigns, initiatives, and strategic priorities. Produce new web content in partnership with outside agencies
• Write and edit content for annual reports, impact summaries, and donor communications
• Coordinate production of annual reports and key organizational publications
• Manage and organize incoming media (photos, videos) from field teams, wildlife crossings, and conservation partners in our asset management system (Air.Inc)
• Identify and track web development needs; communicate requirements to web developers and coordinate implementation
• Work with our teams across the Wildways to gather supporter testimonials, partner stories, and impact narratives; integrate these into web pages and marketing materials

Automation and CRM

• Implement marketing automations (email sequences, advocacy alerts, lead capture, resource delivery) in our CRM platform (Mailchimp) to support engagement and fundraising goals
• Develop automated email sequences for donor cultivation, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder engagement
• Create and implement lead capture forms and conversion pathways

Research, Monitoring, and Reporting

• Monitor and report analytics (quarterly) for conservation marketing initiatives, including web analytics, engagement by channel, and ROI of marketing investments
• Conduct SEO researchin support of content goals and organizational visibility
• Track content performance metrics and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement


Skills & Qualifications

Required:

A successful applicant will possess all of the following required skills and qualifications:

• Proven experience in a content marketing or communications role at a nonprofit, conservation organization, advocacy group, or mission-driven brand
• Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex scientific and policy information for diverse audiences across different channels
• Strong eye for design and visual storytelling
• Commitment to Wildlands Network's mission to reconnect, restore, and rewild North America
• Experience implementing marketing/email automations with a strong analytical mindset
• Solid understanding of current SEO best practices and content optimization
• Experience working with content management systems and building/administering multi-channel digital content
• Proficiency with relevant tools and software for content creation and marketing automation – Wordpress, Mailchimp, Social Media channels.
• 5-7 years of experience in aligned roles

Preferred:

• Passion for conservation, biodiversity, and protecting wild spaces
• Experience in the environmental nonprofit or conservation sector
• Familiarity with wildlife biology, habitat connectivity, or conservation policy
• Understanding of advocacy and policy communications
• Experience working in collaborative, coalition-based environments
• Knowledge of the North American conservation landscape and key ecological issues
• Fluent in Spanish


Key Tools:

Familiarity with the following key tools (or similar) is preferred:

• (CRM) Mailchimp and Action Network
• WordPress
• Google Analytics & Search Console
• Social media management tools (Buffer)
• Design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote)
• ChatGPT or other generative AI tools
