Senior Manager, Integrated Distributed Energy Resources (DER)

Most DER programs are still siloed — solar over here, storage over there, grid services as an afterthought. We're building something different: an integrated approach that treats solar, storage, and grid value as one resource. We need a senior technical leader to help define what that looks like.
This is a subject-matter-expert-first role. You'll spend more time on strategy, technical judgment, and program design than day-to-day administration — shaping funding opportunities, program concepts, and partnerships from the ground up.
What you'll do:
- Serve as our senior technical voice on solar-plus-storage integration, VPP/grid services, storage dispatch strategies, and DER economics
- Evaluate technology options, interconnection pathways, rate structures, and storage use cases (backup, TOU arbitrage, DR/VPP participation) to guide program design
- Take programs from concept through design, launch, and delivery
- Lead partner relationships with utilities, agencies, funders, and technology providers
- Write for executives — strategy memos, decision memos, proposals
- Coach and develop a small team
What you bring:
- 8+ years in clean energy, DER, solar-plus-storage, or utility/public-sector programs, including leading complex multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Real hands-on storage fluency — dispatch strategies, use cases, and how storage economics interact with rate design and interconnection (not just solar with storage as an add-on)
- 3+ years managing people, project teams, or partners
- Strong writing and communication skills — you can translate technical complexity for executives and funders
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
Bonus: VPP program design, grid services aggregation, building decarbonization, or income-qualified program experience.
