Allen Lane are proud to be supporting a leading national charity in the search for a Procurement Manager to lead its procurement function and help deliver meaningful impact through smart, commercially focused procurement.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional who sees procurement as an enabler rather than a barrier. You'll be trusted to balance governance, value for money and organisational objectives, helping colleagues make informed commercial decisions that support the charity's mission and long-term growth.
Reporting into the senior leadership team and managing a Procurement Support Officer, you'll lead procurement activity across the organisation, working closely with stakeholders to deliver practical, proportionate procurement solutions.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional compliance-led procurement role.
The organisation is looking for someone who can build relationships, provide expert guidance and use sound commercial judgement to help stakeholders achieve their objectives. Success in this role will come from understanding business needs, finding pragmatic solutions and creating positive outcomes, rather than simply enforcing process.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead end-to-end procurement activity across a diverse spend portfolio
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Technology, HR, Legal and operational teams
- Drive value for money while maintaining appropriate governance and risk management
- Lead supplier sourcing, tendering, negotiations and contract management activity
- Develop strong supplier relationships and oversee supplier performance
- Support procurement governance, policy development and continuous improvement
- Champion sustainable and ethical procurement practices
- Manage and develop a Procurement Support Officer
- Contribute to wider organisational initiatives and strategic objectives
About You
We're keen to speak with procurement professionals who combine strong commercial capability with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
You'll likely bring:
- MCIPS, CIPS Level 5/6 or equivalent procurement experience
- Significant experience in procurement, sourcing and contract management
- Strong supplier negotiation and commercial management skills
- Experience developing procurement policies, controls and governance frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building ability
- Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to procurement
- Experience balancing governance requirements with operational needs
- Previous leadership or line management experience
Experience within the charity, housing, healthcare, education or wider not-for-profit sectors would be advantageous, although candidates from commercial organisations with strong stakeholder partnering experience are also encouraged to apply.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- A relationship builder who enjoys working across an organisation
- Commercially minded and solutions focused
- Comfortable challenging traditional approaches when a better outcome exists
- Pragmatic, approachable and collaborative
- Motivated by purpose and organisational impact
- Passionate about helping stakeholders succeed
