Summary
The National Trust's commitment is "For everyone, for ever." Bringing that promise to life starts with the people that work here. It means building teams with a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences. It means creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
Our roles are open to all. However, we particularly welcome applications from people from ethnically diverse communities because they are underrepresented at the Trust.
As a Ranger, you'll be a champion for nature conservation and the great outdoors, playing a vital role in caring for some of the nation's most treasured countryside for both wildlife and people.
We have ambitious plans to protect, restore and enhance priority habitats across the Hughenden Property Group, and you'll be at the heart of delivering this work. Working closely with colleagues, communities and key partners across the Chilterns National Landscape, you'll help shape and deliver conservation projects that have a lasting impact on the land and nature we care for.
Salary: £27,612 per annum
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: You'll work 37.5 hours per week, and you should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays, evenings, and be on call.
What It's Like To Work Here
This role forms part of our outdoors team and will help manage several countryside sites across the Chilterns. Our Rangers are the cornerstone of our countryside ambitions, whether that be implementing works under Environmental Stewardship Schemes, looking after our veteran trees or working with key stakeholders on local partnership conservation projects.

What You'll Be Doing
You'll join a Countryside Team focused on making the portfolio a healthier, more beautiful natural environment by improving our woodlands and chalk grasslands, supporting tenant farmers across the let estate, and delivering significant habitat improvement projects over the coming years.
You'll help protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery, and you'll make sure the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard.
You'll work with our tenant farmers to promote nature-friendly farms that benefit nature, and you'll engage with local communities, sharing our work and offering a variety of ways for people to support us and get involved.
You'll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do, building relationships within the local community and proudly sharing the work of you and the wider team. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you'll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
