This role is part of TTF, LLC, a family office that manages both the philanthropic and personal interests of David Tepper and his family. This organization oversees the family’s charitable initiatives, which are carried out through several organizations.

The Tepper Foundation is in the office every Tuesday and Thursday.

Position

The Senior Portfolio Manager, Jewish Giving, leads the strategy, development, and management of the Tepper Foundation’s Jewish Giving portfolio. The portfolio focuses primarily on combating antisemitism and advancing efforts related to security and the safeguarding of Jewish communities. In support of this work, the Foundation invests in several bridge-building initiatives that reflect a collaborative approach with peer funders and shared grantees. This work is closely integrated with the Foundation’s Pro-Democracy and Anti-Hate initiatives. Alongside these core areas, the portfolio also supports Jewish Life through targeted investments focused on children and their families.

Reporting to the Chief Portfolio Officer, this role blends deep content expertise with hands-on grantmaking, field leadership, and relationship management. The Senior Portfolio Manager serves as a trusted internal thought partner and a visible external representative of the Foundation, translating values and priorities into effective philanthropic investments. The role drives the full grantmaking lifecycle, from identifying and evaluating new partnerships, to presenting recommendations to the board for approval, to stewarding grantees and assessing their long-term impact.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned grantmaker or senior leader in the Jewish communal field. The ideal candidate is highly relational, able to navigate complex and sensitive political dynamics, and comfortable working in a centrist environment. They bring nuance, avoid binary thinking, and can confidently represent the portfolio to a closely engaged board.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy & Grantmaking

Lead the vision, strategy, and ongoing evolution of the Jewish Giving portfolio, aligning grantmaking with the Foundation’s values, priorities, and Board direction.
Source, assess, and recommend grants through proactive field engagement, structured due diligence, and continuous learning.
Manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal review, financial and programmatic analysis, monitoring, renewal, and exit decisions.
Design and refine complex initiatives that may include multi-year investments, collaborative funding models, and bespoke programs.
Synthesize insights from grantee work, evaluations, and the broader field to inform ongoing portfolio refinement.

Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement

Build and steward strong, respectful relationships with grantees, peer funders, communal leaders, and institutional partners.
Serve as a thought partner to grantees, offering strategic guidance while maintaining a grantee-centered, service-oriented approach.
Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, ensuring its work is understood, respected, and aligned with community needs.
Represent the Foundation in the field at conferences and convenings, serving as a credible and trusted voice.

Internal Leadership and Collaboration

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, preparing clear recommendations, analyses, and materials for internal and Board review.
Partner with living donors in a family office environment with discretion, judgment, and sensitivity to the Foundation’s mission and board direction.
Partner closely with program operations and finance colleagues to ensure strong internal processes, compliance, and stewardship.
Contribute to Foundation-wide learning by sharing trends, lessons, and emerging opportunities.
Support the development of stronger metrics, reflection, and assessment practices across the portfolio.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, or senior leadership within the Jewish communal or nonprofit sector.
Deep familiarity with Jewish communal institutions, as well as current issues related to Jewish life, antisemitism, and community security.
Demonstrated ability to design, manage, and adapt complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and sensitive subject matter.

Proven ability to distill key insights from substantial amounts of data and information.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and an ability to learn financial modeling and operational analysis.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative setting, where teamwork, passion, positivity, and resourcefulness are highly valued.
Capable of taking initiative and owning high priority tasks and projects.
A successful record of building relationships, while being viewed as a trusted partner and collaborator within an organization and with external stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent Tepper externally and contribute to field-wide discussions.
Ability to navigate political and communal sensitivities with discretion, nuance, and professionalism.

Compensation and Benefits

The Tepper Foundation provides compensation commensurate with experience and equitable with others on the team, plus a full benefits package. The salary range for this position is $180,000-$220,000, and the final offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications.
