Position overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Communications Manager to lead our global communications function. This is a unique “strategic doer” role for someone who is equally comfortable shaping high-level messaging as they are managing digital execution.
Following the launch of our new strategy, you will be responsible for evolving the GIF brand and messaging, amplifying the impact of our portfolio, and supporting our fundraising efforts. You will work at the intersection of international development, impact investing, and climate innovation, translating complex data and technical investments into compelling narratives for a global audience.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy and brand messaging
- Lead the evolution of GIF’s messaging to align with our new strategy, ensuring a coherent “voice” across all audience touchpoints
- Contribute to the Lead and support the development of a refreshed, innovative communications strategy to align with our new corporate and fundraising strategies
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Executive Team, supporting their external engagements, speeches, and social media activity.
- Ensure brand consistency across the organisation and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on positioning.
- Digital content and channel management
- Manage the full lifecycle of digital content: from ideation and copywriting to execution on our website (CMS), email platform, and social media channels (mainly LinkedIn and Youtube).
- Produce high-quality content including blog posts, annual report/impact reports, case studies, newsletters, and webinars—that brings the impact and insights of our portfolio to life using source material from other teams.
- Monitor and report on engagement analytics to continuously optimise channel performance.
- Fundraising and partnerships support
- Collaborate with the Partnerships team to develop high-impact fundraising assets, pitch decks, and collateral.
- Advise on investor-facing positioning to ensure GIF remains competitive and clear in the impact-investing landscape.
- Impact reporting and learning
- Partner with the Impact & Analytics team to lead the production of our annual Impact Report.
- Support delivery of shorter "learning products" and insights-led content that distill data from our portfolio into actionable knowledge for the wider development community working alongside the impact and analytics team.
About you

- Technical proficiency: You are comfortable managing a Website CMS, Email Marketing platforms (e.g., Campaign Monitor), and webinar and event platforms (e.g. EventBrite).
- Exceptional storytelling: You can translate complex technological innovations, financial support and developmental data into emotive, clear, and persuasive narratives.
- Creative design and content production: You are a confident self-starter in design, with the ability to develop high quality visual assets and materials using Canva or similar tools.
