Events Manager
Girl Scouts San Diego is seeking an experienced and collaborative Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of high-quality events that support and advance our mission and strategic goals. This role plays a key part in creating engaging experiences for members, donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
About The Role
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Events Manager oversees council-wide events from planning through execution, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong cross-functional collaboration, and memorable attendee experiences.
What You'll Do
- Plan and execute a wide range of organization events, meetings, and gatherings from concept through completion.
- Develop and manage event project plans, timelines, and run-of-show execution.
- Oversee event logistics, including venues, vendors, contracts, staffing, setup and breakdown.
- Create and manage short and long-term event calendars, proactively resolving conflicts.
- Partner with marketing, development, program and membership teams to ensure cohesive event branding and messaging.
- Manage event budgets, track expenses and revenue, and reconcile invoices with accounting.
- Manage and coordinate staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors supporting events.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Research, source, and manage vendors and venues to balance quality, creativity, and cost effectiveness.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts in accordance with organizational policies.
Required Experience
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, project management, fundraising, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of event planning or management experience; nonprofit experience preferred.
- Proven ability to manage complex event logistics, multiple timelines, vendors, and on-site execution.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, resourceful problem-solver with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management tools such as Asana preferred.
- CMP and/or PMP certification a plus.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for scheduled events.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel occasionally.
- Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouts is essential.
Hiring Pay Range
$70,304 - $75,500
