At Public Policy India, we believe that better public policy begins with better conversations, greater access to opportunities and stronger institutions. Over the years, we've grown into one of India's largest communities in the public policy and social impact space, connecting students, researchers, practitioners, civil servants, development professionals and institutions through knowledge, community and meaningful collaboration.
From our weekly newsletter and city chapters to research, consulting, events and partnerships, our work is driven by one simple goal: making public policy more accessible, participatory and impactful.
Alongside this, we're launching STRIDE, an initiative by Public Policy India and a new-age think tank that reimagines how research, strategic communications and policy consulting come together to create public impact, a new-age think tank and an initiative by Public Policy India that brings together research, strategic communications, policy consulting and institution building to help governments, nonprofits, philanthropies, social enterprises and mission-driven organisations solve complex public problems and tell better stories around the work they do.
As our work continues to grow across both Public Policy India and STRIDE, we're looking for an Associate – Policy, Strategy & Communications who enjoys thinking deeply, communicating clearly and turning ideas into execution.
This isn't a role where you'll be doing just one thing.
On any given week, you might:
- Research a policy issue and translate it into clear, engaging content.
- Support policy consulting and strategic communication projects.
- Build communication and engagement strategies for organisations in the public policy and social impact ecosystem.
- Write newsletters, reports, articles and social media content.
- Design presentations, reports and visual communication assets.
- Coordinate with partners, clients and collaborators.
- Support events, campaigns and community initiatives from ideation to execution.
Who we're looking for
We're less interested in someone who checks every box and more interested in someone who's curious, proactive, thoughtful and excited to build.
Here's what we'd love to see:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Around 1–2 years of relevant experience. Multiple internships count if they've given you meaningful exposure to policy, communications, research, consulting or programme management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in public policy and the social impact ecosystem.
- Strong design sensibilities, with an understanding of typography, colour, spacing and visual communication.
- The ability to take ownership, manage multiple projects and work independently.
- Experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Notion, WordPress, AI tools, video editing or community/programme management is a bonus.
What you'll get
- A fully remote and flexible work environment where ownership matters more than hours.
- A one-year contract to begin with.
- Compensation between ₹4–5 LPA, depending on experience, along with annual appraisals.
- No relocation expectations. Any work-related travel will be fully reimbursed.
- Exposure to a wide range of work across policy research, communications, consulting, strategy, partnerships and community building—because we believe the best learning happens through doing.
- A team that's genuinely invested in your growth. Whether it's helping you develop new skills, connecting you with opportunities or giving you greater ownership over time, we want this role to be a meaningful step in your journey.
If you enjoy wearing multiple hats, asking thoughtful questions, solving problems creatively and building things from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
