The Food Waste Reduction & Hunger Relief team supports this vision by helping to reduce food loss & waste while supporting hunger relief around the world.  

We are looking for a new team member passionate about solving food waste and supporting hunger relief in communities. This team member must have strong project management, data analysis, and communication skills, along with a solid understanding of Power BI and business intelligence principles to help us manage the implementation of food rescue programs, including the FoodShare food donation program available at 100% of US company-owned Starbucks stores.

As a lead, you will:

  • Program management: Oversee, plan and manage multiple projects related to food rescue / hunger relief programs (including FoodShare at US Company Owned stores), ensuring they stay on track, within budget, with the appropriate cross functional teams, and meet quality standards
  • Technical project management: oversee the development, implementation and upkeep of business intelligence projects managed under PowerBI and/or Tableau that help internal and external teams understand and action progress to FoodShare, food rescue, and hunger relief rescue goals
  • External relationship management: Manage the strategy and execution of workstreams that build and maintain relationships with 45 food banks and ~1k food rescue organization partners, including managing and tracking trends with issues management; developing and implementing rhythm of business; and deployment, monitoring and evaluation of Capacity grants utilizing grant management software. Travel to food bank partners or industry convenings anticipated at 10-15%.
  • Cross functional collaboration and stakeholder management: Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and effective communication including project status, addressing concerns, and managing expectations of stakeholders  
  • Problem solving and critical thinking: Adept at identifying and resolving technical and project-related problems, leveraging technical knowledge and applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills  
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic field and team: Anticipate needs and adapt to changing demands of a dynamic field, team and enterprise. Excited to support special projects and new initiatives that support our overall road map to our sustainability and community impact goals

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred, additional advanced degrees valued
  • 5-7+ years leading strategy programs, projects and cross functional teams
  • 5+ years developing external partnerships
  • Can demonstrate strong technical management and data analysis skills, including:  
    • Data modeling: Knowledge of data modeling principles and experience in designing and implementing data models in Power BI
    • Data analysis: Strong analytical skills to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data including advanced proficiency in Excel with the ability to create pivot tables and execute other data analysis functions
    • Data visualization: ability to create clear, concise, and impactful reports and dashboards with the ability to create compelling presentations using PowerPoint including clear data visualizations (charts, graphs) that communicate insights effectively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking
  • Proven success in thriving during periods of ambiguity and change
  • Demonstrated results working on wide ranging external partnerships
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate across functions and/or geographies to solve complex problems
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization; handle competing priorities; influence others to deliver performance
  • Superb communications skills, both orally and in writing for various audiences

Salary & Benefits

$110,600 - $166,000

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
