Background
The Global Methane Hub (GMH) is the first coordinated philanthropic approach to funding methane mitigation. The Hub focuses on the energy, agricultural, and waste sectors, which account for 96% of human-caused methane emissions. We support ambitious catalytic investments, lay the groundwork for long-term transformation, and deliver quick wins ripe for action on the ground.
GMH advances its mission through three main functions:
- Regranting: Providing financial support to public-benefit organisations working directly to mitigate methane.
- Convening: Bringing together governments, civil society, researchers, and funders to align strategies and accelerate coordinated action in the interest of the public benefit.
- Advising: Serving as a knowledge hub and trusted partner, providing guidance on methane mitigation strategies, data sharing, and field-building.
Our actions are global in nature, and we believe quick wins will only be had if we engage sub-national and local communities. Our activities focus on the highest-emitting sectors and regions with a team spread across six continents. GMH is headquartered in Santiago, Chile, with a Stichting registered in the Netherlands.
Purpose of role
The Communications Associate will provide project management and coordination support to our communications function during the period. This role reports to the Communications Lead as part of the Strategic Operations Team and works across program and operations teams.
This role supports the day-to-day activities of the Communications Team, being the primary manager of GMH’s social media presence, and has the opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Job responsibilities
The job holder will have the following key responsibilities:
Project management and grant support
- Assist in the planning and execution of communications campaigns and initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communication between internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the program teams to create compelling narratives and case studies that highlight impact and progress.
- Assist with preparing materials for donor communications that align with organisational goals and messaging.
- Support internal communication by organising team meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting meeting notes to ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Maintain an organised digital filing system for content, assets, and communications materials.
- Assist with planning and organising of virtual and in-person events, convenings, and media engagements, both communications-specific and the communications components of stakeholder events.
- Support the preparation of presentation materials and communications plan for events and coordinate logistics with internal and external partners.
- Help to manage select communications-focused grants,: review content, prepare docket materials, use Fluxx, and ensure adherence to internal grant making processes.
Media relations support
- Assist the Communications Lead with maintaining and updating the media lists, contact databases, and ensuring effective communication with journalists.
- Help prepare and organise press kits and other media-related materials as part of GMH’s media outreach efforts.
- Track media coverage and help prepare the weekly press clips and monthly media impact reports on GMH’s mentions and impact across all media channels, including online, print, and social media.
- Support the Communications Lead to monitor and report on media trends relevant to GMH’s communications goals.
Digital content management & audience
- Edit and post compelling digital content for various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and blogs to communicate GMH’s impact and achievements in real time.
- Track and analyse the performance of digital content, social media posts, and campaigns, providing regular reports and insights for continuous improvement.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with online communities, influencers, and media partners to enhance visibility and support for our mission.
- Assist in responding to inquiries and comments on digital platforms, fostering positive engagement with our audience.
- Monitor social media through social listening and report relevant trends; monitor trends and propose innovative content strategies to enhance audience engagement.
- Ensure social media platforms reflect GMH’s mission and goals.
- Monitors established budget for specific projects or events
- Prepare and submit expense reports, ensuring compliance with organisational financial policies.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as needed by the organisation.
Profile

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 3+ years’ experience in communications, project management, media relations, operational support, or related roles.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., social media, email marketing, content management systems).
- Understanding of climate issues and non-profit sector dynamics across geographies
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational skills, excellent project management skills, and the ability to resourcefully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Broad familiarity and hands-on experience in working globally with multiple stakeholders, in particular in developing countries.
- Impeccable writing skills and oral fluency in English.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- A high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity to global communication nuances.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passionate about being part of the climate change solution.
Terms and conditions
- Annual salary:$57K - $72K USD. Salary is benchmarked to specific locations and geographic differential will be applied based on location. Candidates must have the right to work in the country from which they are applying.
- This will be a full-time (40 hours/week) remote role and will require time flexibility in order to collaborate with staff and stakeholders in multiple time zones. The position supervisor is in the GMT-5 time zone.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically or internationally ~10%.
