ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

U.S. Business Action to End HIV was founded in 2022 by the Health Action Alliance, with support from ViiV Healthcare, to mobilize a growing coalition of private sector partners committed to filling gaps and accelerating progress to help end HIV in the U.S. We offer free tools, resources, and events to help employers educate workers, fight stigma, improve access to HIV prevention and treatment services, and build connections to the communities who need it most.

THE ROLE

Meteorite is seeking a Director to lead the day-to-day strategy, growth, and operations of U.S. Business Action to End HIV. This is a high-visibility coalition leadership role; you'll own the strategic roadmap, manage sponsor and partner relationships, and drive the coalition's programming and engagement.

The ideal candidate is someone who can run a complex, multi-stakeholder program end-to-end: building relationships with corporate partners and community leaders, designing convenings and cohort experiences, managing a team, and translating public health priorities into language that moves businesses to act. You understand how companies think, communicate, and make decisions, whether you learned that inside a company or by spending years partnering with them. You don't need to come from the HIV space, but you need to care about this issue and be ready to champion it with conviction.

This role sits within Meteorite's coalition leadership team. While your primary focus will be leading the HIV initiative, you'll also contribute to and learn from our broader portfolio of coalition work. As our programs grow, there may be opportunities to apply your skills across issue areas.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This role is broad and dynamic. You'll lead across five areas, with the understanding that the balance between them is constantly shifting.

‍Lead Coalition Strategy and Growth: You own the roadmap for engaging businesses in ending HIV, setting objectives, driving measurable outcomes, and recruiting new members. You'll lead pitch conversations, identify prospective member companies, and develop Industry Action Cohorts that deepen employer engagement on specific issues, such as government affairs, media and entertainment, and employee resource groups. You'll also participate in developing proposals and securing funding.

Manage Partner and Member Relationships: You're the primary relationship manager for funding partners and corporate members. That means regular check-ins, tracking deliverables, and making partners feel supported. You’ll also serve as a trusted advisor to corporate members, helping them meaningfully engage their workforce and communities to improve HIV awareness, close gaps in care, and fight stigma.

Convene and Activate the Field: You'll design and host virtual and in-person events, from coalition convenings to industry cohort meetings to conference presence. You'll cultivate relationships with an established Advisory Council of HIV community leaders, strategic partners, and thought leaders, and you'll synthesize feedback, research, and field data to keep the coalition's goals and messaging aligned with what the community actually needs.

‍Run the Program: You'll manage a small team of internal colleagues and external consultants, maintain the program budget, and keep deliverables and timelines on track through Asana and HubSpot. This is a role where strategy and operations live within the same role.

‍Shape Communications and Content: You'll oversee member communications — newsletters, stakeholder outreach, LinkedIn — and guide the development of employer-facing resources and toolkits around moments like National HIV Testing Day and World AIDS Day. You'll deliver an end-of-year Impact Report and represent the initiative publicly when the moment calls for it.

Periodic travel is expected for in-person events and team meetings.

WHAT YOU BRING

We’re looking for someone with a distinctive mix of business acumen, mission commitment, and operational excellence. The five qualities we’re prioritizing are:

‍Business Fluency With a Mission Mindset: You understand how companies think, communicate, and make decisions, and you know how to translate public health goals into language that resonates with corporate partners. You bring 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, business development, CSR, public affairs, employer engagement, or a related field.

‍Knowledge of or Interest in HIV: You don't need to be a public health expert, but you care about this cause and ideally have some familiarity with the HIV landscape, key organizations, and the communities at the center of this work. This is mission-driven work, and it shows in how you represent it.

‍Relationship Builder and Trusted Advisor: You communicate proactively, follow through on commitments, and make partners feel seen and supported. You're equally comfortable leading a high-stakes sponsor conversation, running a member meeting, and building trust with community advocates.

‍A Strategist Who Gets Things Done: You can develop a strategy and implement it. You're not above drafting the deck, sending the follow-up email, or updating the tracker. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and no two weeks look the same.

‍Exceptional Communicator and Storyteller: You're a strong writer and a confident speaker. You can take complex information — public health data, member feedback, field trends — and turn it into clear, actionable narratives for audiences that range from C-suite executives to community leaders.
